Leidos Australia partners with Lockheed Martin Australia on AIR6500
Canberra-based Leidos Australia has won a contract of undisclosed value to provide Lockheed Martin Australia with software development, cyber security and verification and validation services for the ADF’s next generation Joint Air Battle Management System (JABMS) under Project AIR6500.
Under the contract, Leidos Australia will provide support to the JABMS enterprise in the domains of cyber security, modelling and simulation, and validation. This work will support Lockheed Martin Australia in building a highly robust and secure open systems architecture for AIR6500 that will provide Defence with an advanced Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) capability to combat current and future threats.
Leidos Australia Chief Executive Paul Chase said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Leidos which supports our business growth in Australia, while providing our Australian engineering team an opportunity to work in partnership with Lockheed Martin to shape and validate capabilities integrated into AIR6500.”
“Being part of the AIR6500 solution provides the potential for Leidos and Lockheed Martin Australia to work together to integrate intelligence and situational awareness information into the AIR6500 Joint Air Battle Management System from our JP2096 intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance platform.
“This capability enables analysts to quickly search, collate and assimilate information from multiple databases, delivering more complete information in a reduced timeframe thereby enabling swifter, better informed, decision making.”
“The partnership marks an important focus on designing a rigorous, independently validated, agile air battle management system that supports the Australian Defence Force,” said Warren McDonald, Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand Chief Executive.
“Having Leidos Australia integrated into the AIR6500 project builds trust and discipline into the agile software development process,” he added. “It allows Leidos Australia to work directly with our engineers in real time to test and evaluate incrementally. This supports our engineers to continually progress and or resolve technical issues rapidly to achieve project milestones.”
